New York, Dec 26 (ANI): While doubts have been raised on the ancestry of 'Apocalypto' actor Rudy Youngblood by native American activists, the film's director Mel Gibson is being lauded for casting indigenous people in his movie.
Sources that Youngblood - also known as Tee-Dee-Nae (which means 'Strong Boy') - is not from the Comanche clan as he claims to be.
Youngblood has claimed Yaqui blood and Cree blood and Comanche blood ... which is ideal for Mel Gibson, I don't trust a word of it., Comanche blogger, David Yeagley, told the 'Daily News'
Youngblood's manager, Michelle R. Shining Elk, admits that the actor once used his Mexican stepfather's surname, Gonzalez.. But the actor's bio claims that he is the son of the late Preston Tahchawwickah, a prominent Comanche.
According to Yeagley, Tahchawwickah adopted two children and Youngblood wasn't one of them.
Tribal administrator Gene Pekah says that he isn't sure if the actor is an enrolled Comanche, but adds that he takes Rudy at his word.
Yeagley challenges that the Comanche officials have embraced Youngblood because the tribe is falling apart over the casino money and that they see him as a profitable ticket. (ANI)
