Pakistan to form task forces on its future direction: Qureshi
5/9/2008 10:07:00 PM

Islamabad, May 9 (ANI): Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi on Friday announced the formation of two task forces to determine the future direction of Pakistan foreign policy and to tackle the economic needs at diplomatic front.

Winding up debate on foreign policy in the Senate, Qureshi was quoted by the Dawn as saying that the new government's thrust would be on improving relations with its neighbours and strengthening economic ties with China.

About the challenges facing the country, Qureshi said Pakistan was confronted more with internal threats rather than external dangers.

We will try our best to translate these challenges into opportunities, he said, adding that Pakistan's foreign policy reflects its strategic interests where there is always room for improvement.

However, besides ensuring continuity in these policies, these must not be changed overnight, he said. (ANI)
