Moscow, May 17 (RIA Novosti) Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has appointed Oleg Markov to the post of presidential aide in charge of personnel issues, Kremlin press service said.

Markov, 54, the former head of the Federal Financial Monitoring Service (Rosfinmonitoring), is the seventh presidential aide to be appointed by the president this week.

He replaces Viktor Ivanov, who was named head of the state drug control service Thursday.

Markov, a former first deputy presidential protocol chief, studied at the same prestigious law faculty at Leningrad State University as Vladimir Putin and Dmitry Medvedev, and was also deputy head of the foreign relations committee in the office of the late St. Petersburg mayor, Anatoly Sobchak.

Sergei Prikhodko, Alexander Abramov, Dzhakhan Pollyyeva and Larisa Brycheva were reappointed as presidential aides, while Arkady Dvorkovich and Konstantin Chuichenko were the new appointees.

Dvorkovich was formerly a senior economic adviser to President Vladimir Putin, who became prime minister May 8, a day after Medvedev had been sworn in as president.

Chuichenko, who was previously head of Gazprom's legal department, and also a member of the energy giant's management committee, will replace Alexander Beglov, who has been appointed deputy head of the Kremlin administration.

Another presidential aide, Sergei Yastrzhembsky, stepped down Wednesday. Media reports earlier said that Yastrzhembsky would be appointed head of a Russian-Italian investment bank.
