Nepal Prime Minister's efforts for a consensus
10/10/2009 1:52:00 PM

Kathmandu, Oct 10 (ANI): Even as he was greeted by black flags by the Maoist cadres, Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal on Saturday said that he is still trying to end the current political impasse' through a consensus.

Talking to reporters in Pokhara, Madhav Kumar said, he would hold talks with leaders of other parties to end the deadlock.

It is difficult to complete the peace and constitution drafting process if the current deadlock persists, he added.

He also accused civil servants of not cooperating with the government.

Procrastination prevails among civil servants. It is affecting the service seekers, he said.

Maoist cadres tried to obstruct the Prime Minister's convoy in Pokhara and waved black flags at him when he arrived there to inaugurate the third general convention of Higher Secondary School Teachers Association on Friday.

In a similar incident, Maoist cadres clashed with police while protesting against the Prime Minister in Banepa when he arrived there to attend the meeting of the High-level Information Commission.

Earlier, CPN (Maoist) decided to continue with their nationwide protest programmes until the President's move on the army chief row and the issue of 'civilian supremacy' are not allowed to be taken up for discussion in the House.

Senior Maoist leader Narayan Kaji Shrestha has said the Parliamentary Party meeting decided to continue struggle both from the parliament and the street until their demands are not addressed, Nepalnews reported. (ANI)
