11/15/2009 1:02:00 PM

Raipur, Nov 15 (IANS) As many as 20 children, who were taken ill after a mid-day meal at a school in Chhattisgarh, have shown signs of improvement, a doctor said Sunday.

The children, all below 10 years of age, were rushed to a hospital Saturday after being served a mid-day meal at Primary Girls and Boys School in Dhamtari, about 80 km from state capital Raipur. They began vomiting and fell unconscious soon after lunch.

'The children who probably consumed rotten food have shown some improvement Sunday. But they have been kept under observation. They need to be monitored till Monday morning,' C.L. Sahu, a doctor treating the students told IANS.

Dhamtari Collector R.P.S. Tyagi said strict action would be taken against those found guilty.
