Windies pacer Roach says his team ready to take on Aussies
11/20/2009 11:31:00 AM

Brisbane, Nov.20 (ANI): West Indies fast bowler Kemar Roach has said that his side will be ready to compete on equal terms with Australia when the first Test begins at the Gabba from November 26.

Speaking to media persons on the second day of a four-day clash against an under strength Queensland side, after the hosts posted an impressive 384 for the loss of four wickets, The Age quoted Roach, as saying: It was the first day for most of the guys, to run it out, so come the first Test the guys will be on, we'll be ready.

The Windies bowlers suffered the same misery as their batsmen endured a day earlier, but the visitors vowed to give Australia a fight.

Queensland have a lead of 113 runs, thanks to Nick Kruger's 172 and Wade Townsend's century.

The Windies fielders dropped six catches to compound their woes.

Roach could be the man to trouble Australia's batsmen. In his opening spell he dismissed Ryan Broad and delivered a sharp bouncer that slammed into Kruger's head, but the opener regained his composure to post a maiden ton for the Bulls shortly after lunch.

Kruger believes the Windies will be far more competitive come crunch-time.

I think you will see a different side when they come out against Australia. You need to remember they just had a 50-hour plane flight, one day off then straight into a tour game, said Kruger. (ANI)
