Malaysian state Penang looking to explore untapped Indian market
11/20/2009 5:56:00 PM

George Town (Malaysia), Nov. 20 (ANI): Lim Guan Eng, the Chief Minister of the Malaysian state of Penang, is planning to visit India in order to explore untapped markets in the country.

Besides enhancing cultural and tourism ties, Penang is looking to boost trade relations specifically in the field of technology, he said.

We have some cutting edge technology that we can offer while India has much to share in terms of software and Information Technology. Geographically, we are close and I believe Penang can become India's gateway to the Asean countries, the Star Online quoted Lim Guan Eng, as saying.

He was speaking during a courtesy call by the 2009 Amway Leadership Seminar delegates at his office on Monday.

A total of 2,800 delegates from India are staying at Shangri-La's Golden Sands Resort and Rasa Sayang Resort and Spa for the event.

The number of delegates this time around is almost double the previous visit and this delegation ranks among the largest single group to visit from India, Golden Sands Resort GM Bruno Cristol said. (ANI)
