Meet the real life Marge Simpson
4/16/2012 3:46:00 PM

London, Apr 16 (ANI): Marge, the fictional main character in the American animated sitcom 'The Simpsons', has three kids and lives in the US town of Springfield, just like her animated namesake.

She is also a keen churchgoer who met her sweetheart Mr Simpson at high school. Even her son Terry, 56, used to be a Bart Simpson-style tearaway.

For years she has endured knocks at her door from fans of 'The Simpsons', and then last week the creator of the show Matt Groening revealed that the fictional town of Springfield is based on Marge's own town - Springfield, Oregon.

So she is now bracing herself for even more attention.

I have had lots of calls and kids calling to the door asking for Bart, the Sun quoted her as saying.

I had to take my phone out of the phonebook a few years ago because it kept ringing.

And I was asked for my autograph recently in Australia by someone who found out my address. Now the attention is going to start up again, she said.

Groening, who grew up in nearby Portland, ended 23 years of mystery last week with the Springfield revelation.

But Marge is happy and her son Terry even wants to buy her a blue wig so she can look like the cartoon favourite, right, when fans drop by.

The Simpsons have had their ups and downs, just like us. But I like meeting people who think I'm some sort of icon because of my name, she added. (ANI)
