Cairo, May 26 (ANI): Egypt's Muslim Brotherhood party has called for talks with other presidential candidates and party leaders, in an attempt to save the uprising ahead of the presidential elections in the country.

The Muslim Brotherhood's leader Mohd. Morsir reportedly has reached out to other candidates to defeat rival Ahmed Shafiq, as they fear that Egypt would be in danger if forces loyal to ex-President Hossni won the elections.

According to the BBC, Morsi has already invited other presidential candidates and party leaders to hold talks on Saturday.

The group claimed that Morsi, won most votes in this week's first round, with some 25 percent of the vote, while Shafiq got roughly 24 percent.

After Morsi and Shafiq, nationalist Hamdin Sabbahi, a fiery opponent of the Mubarak regime who became the choice of many of those supporting the revolution, appears to be in third place, for the presidential run-off.

Shafiq, who served briefly as Mubarak's prime minister, is regarded by many as a 'creature of the old secular regime'. (ANI)
