Lucknow, May 26 (ANI): Dimple Yadav, wife of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav would be representing the Samjawadi Party (SP) from Kanauj in the by-elections.

The parliamentary constituency fell vacant after Akhilesh Yadav resigned from the Lok Sabha after becoming the Chief Minister.

SP spokesperson Ram Gopal Yadav declared Dimple's nomination here on Saturday.

Party's Parliamentary board has taken a decision that our nominated candidate from Kannauj will be Mrs. Dimple Yadav, he said.

Party workers supported the decision and expressed confidence for her success.

Mukhtar Ali, a party worker, said that all the party workers want to see Dimple Yadav as a lawmaker.

We always wanted to see her as a lawmaker. We are absolutely confident that Dimple Yadav will win with a clear majority, Ali said.

The decision to field Dimple Yadav as the party's candidate for the by-polls was taken the by Samajwadi Party Parliamentary Board, which met in Lucknow on Friday. (ANI)
