New Delhi, May 28 (IANS) Central government schools like Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNV) and Kendriya Vidyalayas (KV) in Delhi have fared better than private schools in this year's Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) Class 12 examination, an official statement said Monday.

At 91.20 percent and 95.53 percent, the pass percentage of JNV and KVs respectively has been better than of the private schools, which have a pass percentage of 90 percent, said the CBSE.

The pass percentage of both JNVs and KVs, however, dropped in the capital -- from 96.52 percent in 2011 to 91.20 percent this year for JNVs and 95.63 percent last year to 95.53 this year for KVs.

According to the CBSE, private unaided schools are schools run by a society/trust constituted and registered under the provisions of central/state legislations. While KVs and JNVs are autonomous institutions which get funding from the central government, government schools are run by the state government.

The pass percentage of private schools in Delhi has increased from 89.71 percent in 2011 to 90 percent this year.

Government schools in Delhi registered a pass percentage of 87.70 percent this year against last year's 87.53 percent.

Nation-wide, the pass percentage of JNVs has gone down from 96.87 percent in 2011 to 95.96 percent this year, while the KVs have registered 94.13 percent, up from 2011's 93.42 percent.
