British couple scoop million-pound lottery with forgotten ticket
6/1/2012 10:40:00 AM

London, June 1 (IANS) A British couple scooped one million pounds (about $1.5 million) on the EuroMillions lottery with a ticket which they had stuck to their fridge for over two months and literally forgotten.

Alan, 46, and Kim Elliot, 45, from Nottingham, walked past the ticket every day. But they remained completely unaware that it was the winner of a one million pounds prize on a draw held in March, Daily Mail reported.

They only discovered last Friday that they had actually turned lucky when building worker remembered to take several old tickets to his local newsagent to be checked.

Alan said he first felt that his local newsagent was playing a trick when he checked the ticket and revealed that it was a one million pound winner.

Though the couple have missed out on around 7,500 pounds in interest by not banking their win at the time, they said they weren't going to let that worry them.

They now plan to splash out on holidays and a Range Rover.
