Doctors demand apology from Aamir Khan over Satyamev Jayate
6/2/2012 9:13:00 PM

New Delhi, June 2 (ANI): Indian Medical Association (IMA) has come out in protest against Bollywood star Aamir Khan and his new television show 'Satyamev Jayate', and has demanded an apology from the actor for the latest episode of the show that recounted cases where doctors allegedly recommended patients to undergo surgeries while they were, in reality, suffering from minor illnesses.

Harish Gupta, president of the Delhi Medical Association, said that Khan had undermined the medical profession and the protest would be intensified lest the actor appologises.

He should always keep in mind the respect for the medical association. I believe Aamir Khan should apologise to all the doctors of the country. If not, the IMA and the Delhi medical association will talk about our future course of action, Gupta said.

D R Rai, Secretary General of the IMA, said that Khan was a respected personality and that whatever was shown in the episode was a canard and untrue.

Aamir Khan is a very big crusader and we praise and respect him. But the way he has projected the medical profession is highly condemnable and we protest it. His show 'Satymave Jayate' says that it would touch your heart; in reality it has pierced our hearts. All that was shown in the episode was all wrong and rubbish, Rai said. (ANI)
