London, June 16 (IANS) Singer Gary Barlow has been named celebrity dad of the year.

He was given the title at the Premier Inn Celebrity Dad of the Year contest, reports femalefirst.co.uk.

Barlow is expecting his fourth child with wife Dawn. They have three children -- Daniel, 11, Emily, nine and Daisy, three. He won the top spot beating singer Peter Andre.

I've been waiting for it for a long time. My kids are really excited and I don't think they can quite believe it. Being a dad is a really important part of my life and it means a lot to have won this award, the 41-year-old said.

Barlow later shared the news with his fans on Twitter.

Ladies, gentlemen, lads, lassies and Peter Andre, I'm proud to tell you all that I've won 'Celebrity Dad of the year 2012', he tweeted.

Other famous faces contending for the prize included soccer star David Beckham, celebrity chef Jamie Oliver and rapper Jay-Z.
