Kolkata, July 5 (IANS) Union Home Minister P. Chidambaram Thursday faced a volley of questions from the West Bengal Congress leadership, which expressed a desire to walk out of the alliance with Trinamool Congress, saying their party was bearing the burden of the Trinamool's misrule.

Chidambaram held a meeting with senior Congress leaders and party MPs from the state to gauge the current political situation and the condition of the Congress-Trinamool alliance.

Chidambaram has endorsed our complaint that the Congress is being regularly attacked by Trinamool supporters in the state. We have told him that we want to walk out of the alliance as the present state government doesn't take our advice regarding any policy decisions, said a Congress MP on condition of anonymity.

The MP also said the state leaders also told the home minister that the state unit would not like to take the burden of the Trinamool's misrule.

We have told him that we should not take the burden of the misrule of Trinamool. He told us that he will convey our feelings to the party high command. He said he can understand the pros and cons of the alliance as the Congress itself has been in an alliance in his home state, Tamil Nadu.

After a 30-minute talks with Chidambaram, state Congress chief Pradip Bhattacharya said that the Congress was unhappy with the way the state government was functioning.

We are currently unhappy with the way the state government is being run by Trinamool Congress. It is really unfortunate that there is already a feeling that the present ruling party will fail to fulfill the aspirations of the masses. We are very unhappy with the present situation, he said.

The Congress is the junior partner in the state government, but its relations with Trinamool are strained over a number of issues.
