Ex-England coach Capello spotted at Moscow airport
7/12/2012 5:01:00 PM

Moscow, July 12 (IANS/RIA Novosti) Russia's search for a new coach took an unusual twist Thursday after a Russian striker said he had seen former England coach Fabio Capello hanging around immigration at one of Moscow's airports.

Capello joined famous names, including Pep Guardiola and Harry Redknapp, on a list of 13 coaches that the Russian Football Union said Tuesday it was considering for the post, which has been vacant since Dick Advocaat left after Euro 2012.

Sergei Volkov, a forward for Russian Premier League side Amkar Perm, said that Capello seemed to have arrived without a Russian visa.

I arrived at Sheremetyevo and you won't believe whom I met - Fabio Capello in person, Volkov said on Twitter. The customs officers told me he had been sitting for more than an hour waiting for someone, having no visa. I'm shocked.

The sighting made it likely that Capello would take the Russia job, Volkov suggested.

A source in the Russian Football Union told R-Sport last week that Capello is to be offered a two-year deal by the country's football chiefs.

Capello resigned after four years in charge of England in February in protest at interference in team affairs from the country's FA.

Capello has vast experience in the game, winning the Champions League and the Italian and Spanish titles in spells with AC Milan, Juventus, AS Roma and Real Madrid.
