Chopda, Mutatkar top seeds in Maharashtra badminton

Mumbai, July 23 (IANS) Mumbai suburban's Sagar Chopda and Pune's Aditi Mutatkar have been listed as top seeds among the men and women respectively in the second Maharashtra Senior State Selection Badminton Tournament.

The tournament will be hosted by Khar Gymkhana along with the Maharashtra Badminton Association and co-sponsored by Yonex Sunrise July 25-29.

The tournament has received a record number of entries, with the men's draw comprising 256 players and the men's doubles 128.

Matches will be played in the categories of men's singles, men's doubles, women's singles and women's doubles. The first two days will be played at the Khar Gymkhana and Matunga Gymkhana, before shifting solely to Khar Gymkhana from the third day.

Following are the seedings: Men's Singles: 1. Sagar Chopda (Mumbai Suburban), 2. Subhankar Dey (Thane), 3. Mayank Gole (Pune), 4. Amit Khadgi (Mumbai Suburban).

Women's Singles: 1. Aditi Mutatkar (Pune), 2. Anuradha Shrikhande (Pune).

Men's Doubles: 1. Abhishek Kulkarni/Prashant Bhatre (Thane), 2. Nishad Dravid/Shlok Ramchandran (Mumbai Suburban), 3. Sameer Bhagat/Varun Khanwalkar (Pune), 4. Abhidnya Sawant/Sagar Chopda (Mumbai Suburban).

Women's Doubles: 1. Mansi Gadgil/Saee Prandare (Pune), 2. Sonal More/Vinaya Shetty (Mumbai Suburban).
