London, Aug 2 (IANS) World record holder Cesar Cielo from Brazil has vowed to make up for a disappointing sixth place in the 100-metre Olympic freestyle swimming final final with a smashing performance in the 50m event.
After setting the pace early in Wednesday's 100m final, Cielo faded late to finish 0.4 of a second behind winner Nathan Adrian from the United States, reports Xinhua.
The 25-year-old is already setting his sights on defending the 50m title he won in Beijing when the heats begin Thursday.
To be honest I am not surprised by the 100m result because it's not my best event, Cielo said.
Now it's time to get down to business in the 50m freestyle. My plan is to rest as much as possible to be in the best possible shape for the event.
