Minsk, Aug 2 (IANS/RIA Novosti) Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko has blamed the national border guard service over the bombing of hundreds of teddy bears from a plane intruding into the country's air space.
He has already sacked the air defence and border guards service chiefs over the incident.
A light plane crossed the country's airspace from neighbouring Lithuania July 4, evading the country's air defences and parachuting the bears with slogans in support of human rights.
Having sacked the two chiefs Tuesday, Lukashenko said the two got off lightly and added that in Soviet days, they would have ended up behind prison bars.
The stunt was carried out by two Swedes who said they wanted to show support for Belarusian rights activists and embarrass the country's top brass.
