Koevermans includes Chettri in Nehru Cup probables

New Delhi, Aug 7 (IANS) India's chief football coach Wim Koevermans has included skipper Sunil Chettri in the 27-probables for the Nehru Cup after the striker got an assurance from his club Sporting Lisbon that he would be released for the tournament to be held from August 22.

While Chettri's hasn't joined the camp in Bangalore, but the footballer has given written assurances to the All India Football Federation (AIFF) that he will be joining the camp August 12.

Koevermans had discussions with Sporting Lisbon B side's coach and Chettri before including the player in the probables.

I'm happy that we got confirmation from his club on his release on August 12 and that leaves us get enough time to work with the player to prepare ourselves for the Nehru Cup, Koevermans said.

The Dutchman will be pruning the squad down to 20 for the tournament.

List of probables:

Goalkeeper: Subrata Pal, Subhasish Roychowdhury, Karanjeet Singh.

Defenders: Nirmal Chhetri, Denzil Franco, Gourmangi Singh, Gurwinder Singh, Raju Gaikwad, Khelemba Meitei, Syed Rahim Nabi, Mohan Raj.

Mid-fielders: Mehtab Hossain, Rocus Lamare, Milan Singh, Baldeep Singh, Jewel Raja, Francis Fernandes, Alwyn George, Anthony Pereira, Gilbert Oliviera, Sanju Pradhan, Clifford Miranda, Joaquim Abranches.

Fowards: Robin Singh, Sunil Chhetri, Manandeep Singh, Jeje Lalpekhlua
