Murray believes Olympic gold medal could help quest for Grand Slam glory
8/7/2012 6:35:00 PM

London, Aug 7(ANI): British tennis star Andy Murray, who won gold medal in the single's event at the London Olympics, believes his success at the Games could help his quest to win the first Grand Slam of his career at the U.S. Open.

Murray admitted his exhaustion after five Olympic matches in three days to win two medals.

But the world No.4 is obliged to play in the Masters 1000 in Toronto starting today and could face a tricky third-round tie with local favourite Milos Raonic.

Come US Open time, I hope this will have given me the confidence to believe in myself a bit more than I have in the past and give myself a shot at winning there, said Murray, runner-up in New York in 2008, The Daily Mirror quoted Murray, as saying.

I played very well at the US Open in the past. It's a surface I like playing on. If I play like I've done this week, I've a chance. It's not ideal to go to Canada but tennis has its rules. I'll be there. Whether I play or not, I'll have to see how my body feels, he added. (ANI)
