Washington, August 7 (ANI): Majority of Americans who voted for President Barack Obama in 2008 are still backing him again this year, according to a poll.
According to the Gallup Poll, as many as 86 percent of voters support Obama again this year, while only nine percent have defected to his presidential challenger Mitt Romney.
Moreover, 92 percent of John McCain voters said that they're supporting Romney and five percent of those McCain voters are now voting for Obama, Politico reports.
Gallup also found that five percent of Obama voters and three percent of McCain voters are undecided or voting for neither.
The race remains close because Obama's margin in 2008 was large enough that he could still be tied or in the lead this year if his support is a few percentage points lower, the Gallup analysis concluded. (ANI)
