8/7/2012 7:20:00 PM

Siliguri (West Bengal), Aug 7 (ANI): Incessant rains have increased the plight of the locals here, with Rohini road, which connects Siliguri to Kurseong, caving in here on Tuesday, and throwing traffic out of gear.

Numerous trucks, buses and other vehicles were stranded on the road for several hours.

Speaking to reporters here on Tuesday, Suren Thakuri, a local expressed his plight and said he was stranded since yesterday, as the road was blocked.

We have been stranded here since yesterday. The road is blocked. It was the only way to go, Thakuri said.

Bikram Rai, a truck driver, also reported that people were confronting many difficulties due to road blockage.

We are facing many problems. The roads are blocked. We are facing difficulties in getting our daily household items, as the vehicular movement is stopped. Landslides are very often here. Everybody is suffering because of the landslides, Rai said.

Meanwhile, the members of Gorkhaland Territorial Administration (GTA) assured the people of providing all necessary help in order to avert any untoward incidents. (ANI)
