Purple Haze triumph in Mumbai district football

Mumbai, Aug 7 (IANS) Purple Haze SC did well to pull off a narrow 2-1 win against Sterkem Pharma in a Third Division match of the Mumbai District Football Association League, played at the St Xavier's ground at Parel Tuesday.

Santan Saldanha and Kushal Mhatre struck a goal each to help Purple Haze pocket all the three points. Sterkem Pharma reduced the margin trough the effort of Nalin Dalasia.

In another encounter, Joshua Generation, who were twice in arrears, fought back strongly to share the spoils with Adarsh FC 'C' in a 2-2 draw. Kandaswamy Konar scored both the goals for the Joshua side, while Harish Waghela and Prakash Sarvaiya were on target for Adarsh.

In the third match of the day, Buddys XI and Jeevan Dhara FC also played out an exciting 2-2 draw. Strikers Anthony Gonsalves and Scott got the goals for Buddys XI, while Wasim Mullah and Sagar Surve hit the target once each to ensure Jeevan Dhara snatch a point.

Division III results: Purple Haze 2 (Santan Saldanha, Kushal Mhatre) beat Sterkem Pharma 1 (Nalin Dalasia); Adarsh FC 'C' 2 (Harish Waghela, Prakash Sarvaiya) drew with Joshua Generation 2 (Kandaswamy Konar 2); Buddys XI 2 (Anthony Gonsalves, Scott) drew with Jeevan Dhara FC 2 (Wasim Mullah, Sagar Surve).
