US basketball star Bryant insists won't do a 'Beckham' after announcing retirement
8/13/2012 1:44:00 PM

London, Aug 13(ANI): Kobe Bryant, who has announced his retirement from basketball after his final Olympic match, has said younger players in the U.S. team are good to go, and he won't try to make a comeback in the Olympics team just like his good friend David Beckham.

Beckham was watching at North Greenwich Arena as the United States won a tense battle with European champions Spain in the second-closest Olympic final of all time, and his close LA pal Bryant was one of the reasons the hot gold medal faves were able to avoid an upset. This is it for me. The other guys are good to go, The Daily Express quoted Bryant, as saying.

Bryant hit a couple of big free-throws midway through the final period of the match, as the Americans finally built a nine-point lead over the Spanish.

The United States eventually had too much firepower to beat Spain with Kevin Durant hitting 30 points, LeBron James 19 and Bryant ending up with 17. (ANI)
