Patna, Aug 23 (IANS) Bihar has urged the central government to provide urea to overcome a serious shortage, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said Thursday.

The chief minister said he had written to central Minister of State for Chemicals and Fertilizer Srikant Jena.

I have told Jena about urea shortage in Bihar due to inadequate supply by the central government, he said.

According to an official, Bihar has got 5.90 lakh million tonnes of urea. But this was 1.96 lakh million tonnes less than what was allocated by the central government.
